OUR HISTORY
2019-2023
Who We Are
Birmingham Youth Strike for Climate is a purely youth-led organisation run by 13-24 year olds. We started in 2019, working with youth activists internationally. However, we mostly focus on local issues as we hold the council accountable through hosting strikes and other actions.
2019-A Movement
These actions have enabled young people to have a space where their voice is heard by the council and other local authorities, with our biggest protest holding 4000 young people from across Birmingham, successfully forcing the council to declare a climate emergency.
2023-The Action Continues
We are continuing to partake in the global climate strikes and are welcome to any volunteers wanting to be part of the movement. Our next climate strike will be on Friday 15th September alongside young people across the world!
